We have produced a number of information packs and craft activities for different aspects of Islam. These are free to download and use at home or in the classroom ~ we ask that you do not use them for commercial purposes. They were written for use in Key Stage 2, but with slight adaptations, should also be suitable for both Key Stages 1 and 3.

Fanoos ~ Ramadan Islamic lanterns info. guide and craft activities

A guide describing the practice of lighting a 'fanoos' during Ramadan in many Islamic countries and households. Including two craft activities allowing children to make their own fanoos/lantern.These colourful lanterns make an excellent Ramadan, Eid or general Islamic display. Mendhi ~ Islamic hand decoration info. guide and craft activity

A guide describing Mendhi (or Mehndi), the practice of decorating hands and feet for important events, such as weddings and Eid ul-fitr. This guide also includes a link to an interactive ICT program and a craft activity allowing children to make their own decorated hand designs ~ ideal for a class display for Eid or as a general Islamic display. Muslim Prayer Mats ~ an info. guide and craft activity

A guide describing what prayer mats are, what they look like and why they are used. This resource also includes different design ideas and a simple craft activity for use with children. Once completed these colourful mats will make a lovely Islamic display ~ perfect for Ramadan or Eid. Click on the image to download the .pdf file.
Cardboard model of a Mosque, or Masjid

A great model of a cardboard mosque, or masjid. Print onto thin card, colour, cut out and stick together. Used very successfully with years 4, 5 and 6, although I can’t see why it wouldn’t work just as well with KS3 or KS1 (with support!).
